Williston VT, USA -- MicroStrain announces the release of the newest in a line of innovative inertial sensors, the 3DM-GX3® -45 which is a GPS-aided inertial navigation system (GPS/INS).
The on-board Kalman filter provides optimal position, velocity, and attitude (PVA) estimates. The 3DM-GX3-45 is in a class of its own, with high performance tracking capabilities comparable to higher cost units, yet with a very small footprint (44 mm x 25 mm) and extremely light weight (23 grams).
It provides an ideal solution for a variety of applications including vehicle tracking, camera pointing, antenna pointing, and unmanned aerial and micro vehicle navigation.
Additionally, its ability to integrate third party GPS and/or heading sensor inputs means that it can take advantage of existing navigation components that may already be in place.

Dublin, Ireland -- DecaWave has completed tape out of MPW2 of its ground-breaking DW1000 chip, the first product of the ScenSor family.
Sample silicon will be made available to DecaWave customers from November 2011.
ScenSor1 is a single chip Wireless Transceiver using Ultra Wideband radio technology, compliant with the IEEE802.15.4a standard and implemented using CMOS wafer technology. The combination of these attributes gives it some ground breaking capabilities.
DW1000 key features include its capability to locate objects indoors to a precision of 10 cm, and to communicate at data rates up to 6.8 Mbps from a range of 450 meters (with line of sight) and 45 meters (non-line of sight), at very low power consumption (transmitter power consumption is approximately 7 times lower than narrowband 802.15.4 transceivers and receiver power consumption up to 3 times lower) at very competitive price.
DW1000 conforms to the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE802.15.4a standard.
