R & D : DecaWave Tapes Out ScenSor DW100 Chip

R&D - Sample Silicon Available to Partner Firms from November 2011
- Last Development Milestone Before Commercial Availability in 2012


Dublin, Ireland -- DecaWave has completed tape out of MPW2 of its ground-breaking DW1000 chip, the first product of the ScenSor family.

Sample silicon will be made available to DecaWave customers from November 2011.

ScenSor1 is a single chip Wireless Transceiver using Ultra Wideband radio technology, compliant with the IEEE802.15.4a standard and implemented using CMOS wafer technology. The combination of these attributes gives it some ground breaking capabilities.

DW1000 key features include its capability to locate objects indoors to a precision of 10 cm, and to communicate at data rates up to 6.8 Mbps from a range of 450 meters (with line of sight) and 45 meters (non-line of sight), at very low power consumption (transmitter power consumption is approximately 7 times lower than narrowband 802.15.4 transceivers and receiver power consumption up to 3 times lower) at very competitive price.

DW1000 conforms to the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE802.15.4a standard.
