Applications : New Peristaltic Pump Enhances Quality Control at F. Hoffman-La Roche AG

apps DOSE IT peristaltic pumpCHUR, Switzerland -- Recently introduced by INTEGRA Biosciences, the state-of-the-art DOSE IT peristaltic pump is especially well suited to laboratories where different dispensing protocols are frequently used and interchanged.

Faced with the need to dispense several hundred samples per day following a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the Microbiological Quality Control Group at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, Switzerland, required a flexible programmable pump that was both easy to use and efficient.

Using a DOSE IT P910 pump, the Microbiological Quality Control Group has established a program of automated protocols that precisely dispense growth media and buffers into tubes, bottles and Erlenmeyer flasks.

New Products : Auriga To Launch Its AU4550 Pulsed IV/RF System

newproducts HONOLULU, Hawaii, --Auriga Measurement Systems, LLC has announced the launching of its next generation pulsed IV/RF measurement system. The AU4550 Pulsed IV/RF System (PDF DATA SHEET) will offer Auriga customers state-of-the-art measurement science in a compact, versatile, and highly adaptable desktop-sized package.

The AU4550 utilizes Auriga's synthetic instruments to protect customers' investments as technology continues to advance.

Larry Smith, director of test systems for Auriga said, "The AU4550 Pulsed IV/RF System is a great example of where Auriga is going with its R&D efforts. We listened to our customers, who wanted smaller and less expensive solutions, but still demanded better functionality. Then our Auriga engineers made it happen and we've already shipped three systems to early-adopters."

It became clear early in the development cycle that this product is well positioned to solve customers' issues, as during discussions with several key customers regarding the features and functionality of the AU4550 that the talks turned to pre-launch sales.

DAQ & DAS : DAQ Stability in a World of Disruption

Data Aquisition & Mo DT9853/DT9854: Isolated Analog Output Modules
The scope output shows an 8,000V spike testMarlboro MA, USA -- Data Translations' DT9853 and DT9854 are low-cost analog output and digital I/O modules for the USB bus. They provide 4 or 8 analog outputs at 16-bit resolution in a metallized, compact enclosure.

Along with the popular use of USB modules in benign lab-type applications, the DT9853 Multi-D/A Analog Output series is also suited to industrial uses.

It is galvanically isolated to +-300V and is impervious to noise spikes up to 8000V. It provides voltage as well as the industrial standard 0 to 20mA current outputs concurrently.

These modules operate as high speed USB devices for maximum speed and accuracy.

New Products : Large volume sample pooling made easy …

newproducts SampleGenie™ for EZ-2 and HT series centrifugal evaporators
Flask and VialIpswich, UK & Valley Cottage NY USA Genevac has announced SampleGenie™, an innovation in solvent evaporation technology, that enables scientists to pool and productively concentrate large volume sample fractions directly into a single standard sample vial.

For high-throughput applications including compound storage, drug development and environmental analysis, methods that can reduce analytical work are desirable.

Pooling of fractions that contain a common analyte, to yield a single sample, save time and are therefore highly desirable.

Until now though no commercial technology existed for pooling and concentrating large volume fractions.

Then along came SampleGenie® in a choice of glass or 316L stainless steel to cope with most solvent types.

Available in 3 sizes (50ml, 125 ml and 300ml) the ingenious patented design of SampleGenie™ enables Genevac's popular EZ-2 and HT series centrifugal evaporators to accelerate the pooling of multiple large volume fractions into a single small sample vial.

Devices : What is Arduino and Why?

Devices Arduino i/o boardOnline -- Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board, and a development environment for writing Arduino software. It is a tool for making computers that can sense and control more of the physical world than a desktop computer.

The Arduino programming language is an implementation of the language used by Wiring, while the Arduino environment is based on Processing.

Arduino can be used to develop interactive objects, taking inputs from a variety of switches or sensors, and controlling a variety of lights, motors, and other outputs. It's great for students, educators, hobbists and more!

Arduino projects can be stand-alone, or they can be communicate with software running on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP.) The boards can be assembled by hand or purchased preassembled; the open-source IDE can be downloaded for free.
