Abingdon, UK -- AMSBIO has announced a new range of MagSi magnetic beads that incorporate a novel ferro fluid to combine the advantages of small beads and large surface with the magnetic performance and strength of larger beads.
While the new High Magnetic Content (HMC) beads typically offer 4-6 times faster separation than competitive products they also offer a perfect solution for replacing other brands such as Dynabeads® - without major changes in protocols or handling.
Other advantages of MagSi beads with new HMC technology include higher yields especially in assays with complex binding kinetics, faster protocols can be used even in highly viscous solvents and samples, and they offer better reproducibility.

Prairieville LA, USA --- K-TEK announces a unique blend of technologies that reduce risk and increase the safety ratings of level measurement systems. The company now provides a complete safety level package that combines redundant systems, independent technologies, and a SIL2 certified device.
The end result is safer and more reliable products and processes for chemical plants, oil and gas refineries, and power plants.
"Increasing safety and reducing risk are top priorities for most plants," stated Kevin Hambrice, Director of Marketing & Customer Service at K-TEK.
"Large processing plants carry a certain degree of inherent risk. The goal is to reduce that risk to an acceptable level. Independent and redundant systems, combined with SIL2 certification, eliminate single mode failure and increase the safety integrity rating of the entire level system."
K-TEK's enhanced safety level measurement offerings include the AT200 high accuracy transmitters, the only magnetostrictive level transmitters in the industry that are certified for operation in SIL2 environments.

PROVIDENCE RI, USA – Mahr Federal has introduced a new option package for their well-known MarForm MMQ 200 Formtester which provides the measurement of surface finish parameters according to accepted ISO, ASME, and JIS standards.
With the combined hardware/software MMQ 200 Surface Finish option, operators will benefit from reduced set-up and measurement cycle time, and reduced cost by needing only a single piece of equipment for both form and surface measurements.
"The key to providing accurate surface finish data with a form machine is high resolution and low residual noise," said Pat Nugent, Vice President Metrology Systems for Mahr Federal.
"Unlike many form measurement machines that are designed to measure longer wavelengths and allow 5-10 microns between data points, the controller for the MMQ 200 was designed with roughness measurements in mind. It can sample data with spacing down to 0.5 microns, well within accepted international standards for roughness measurement."
